Log Yard Manager Summary

In operation since 1982, Superior Hardwoods is one of the largest sawmills in Indiana. This facility utilizes some of the latest innovations in lumber sorting and optimizing technology to ensure that our clients receive consistent quality hardwood. In 2017, Superior Hardwoods became a location of Baillie Lumber Co. We are currently seeking a Log Yard Manager for our kiln dried lumber operations located in Montezuma, Indiana.

Log Yard Manager Responsibilities:

• Manage and coordinate all activity in a busy log yard
• Responsible for log inventory log rotation, log sorting, managing the efficient flow of logs necessary to meet sawmill flow demands
• Communicate with the mill operations, wood procurement, and the mill quality team to ensure correct product mix is being achieved
• Maximize yard procurement and efficiency
• Scaling lumber as it comes into the yard and ensuring that log quality standards are met
• Lead safety performance by operating at the highest standards of safety

Log Yard Manager Qualifications:

• Minimum 3-5 years experience in a Log Yard/Industrial setting
• Strong commitment to safety
• Strong computer skills and ability to pick up new technology as needed
• Experience supervising and leading operational teams
• Heavy Equipment Operation experience
