Did you know that the largest hardwood manufacturing company in North America is headquartered right here in Western New York?  With a globally deployed sales force and dozens of manufacturing facilities throughout the United States, Baillie Lumber Co is recognized as the leader in hardwood lumber.  We are excited to add another recruiter to support our manufacturing facilities in the Eastern United States.  This newly created position, based in Hamburg, NY, provides a unique opportunity to help shape and execute the talent acquisition strategies for a growing international company.

Some of the things you'll do:

  • Manage recruiting life cycle for entry level roles: source, screen, interview, and present candidates, coordinate interviews and administer assessments; follow up with candidates
  • Partner with hiring managers to understand strategic business objectives and develop strategies to meet current and future staffing needs (across multiple locations).
  • Develop a robust pipeline of qualified candidates for manufacturing openings by proactively and creatively sourcing candidates for local hiring managers.
  • Identify and forge relationships with local organizations and community members, high schools, local colleges, staffing agencies, etc.
  • Continuous management of the candidate pipeline and ongoing engagement with active and passive candidates
  • Responsible for internal and external job postings based on hiring criteria using social media, internet-based job posting vendors and applicant tracking system
  • Track and report on key metrics relevant to the position (time to fill, etc.)
  • Work with hiring managers to write compelling job descriptions, edit the job pages and work with marketing to build an employment brand
  • Look for ways to continually improve our recruiting process and promote the forest products industry

Who you are:

  • A Four year degree with at least 1 year of proven track record of recruiting and selection experience, preferably from a staffing environment
  • Demonstrated ability to consult with managers regarding staffing needs and decisions
  • Demonstrated experience using social networking, job boards, aggregate site, etc.
  • Demonstrated experience working with vendors or suppliers for industrial or manufacturing clients
  • Armed with superb communication skills and able to build incredible relationships with both internal stakeholders and candidates
  • Experienced at filling a variety of roles across multiple job functions and employee levels
  • Proficient at using applicant tracking systems as well as building candidate pools and searches
  • Open to change and engaging in new opportunities
  • Adaptable, flexible, and enjoys the challenge of working with multiple affiliates
  • Must be willing to travel 10-20% during training, and after training to career fairs, open houses at facilities, meetings with managers, etc. Travel will be day or overnight trips

This position reports to the Talent Acquisition Manager of a small HR team.  Successful candidates will have a desire to communicate constantly and openly, introduce new ideas and perspectives willingly, and possess an insatiable thirst for serving the needs of our facilities.  This is an awesome role for someone looking to take the next step in owning a bigger chunk of the recruiting cycle, is eager to travel to many locations domestically, and excited to be part of a newer team of a nearly 100 year old industry leader.
